F-1 Firearms FAQ
Q1. Do the holes in the upper cause more or less gas to the face when rapid firing?
A1. Due to even venting on either side of the upper we actually see less gas to the face across the board. This also holds true when running suppressed.
Q2. Your upper and lower are skeletonized but still weigh about the same as a standard forging set, Why?
A2. Our receiver sets are made from 7 series aluminum, as opposed to the forgings that are made from 6 series. We also have reinforced specific locations on the upper and lower to make sure it is a stronger choice then even an un-skeletonized receiver set.
Q3. How long has F-1 been around?
A3. F-1 Firearms was formed roughly 5 years ago, starting strictly with R&D. We brought products to market nearly 3 1/2 years ago.
Q4. I ordered 3 small items and my shipping is extremely high, is there any way to combine shipping?
A4. Yes, we are very sorry, but due to the nature of our E-Commerce on the site, all items have a pre set shipping price. Please contact Support@f-1firearms.com with your order number and we will adjust your shipping accordingly.
Q5. How long does it take to ship?
A5. Most parts ship in 3-5 business days. Black full builds rifles typically ship in 7-10 business days (if all parts are in stock). All color orders can take an average of 60-90 days to ship.
Q6. What is the origin of the name “F-1”
A6. Our sister company is “F-1 Consulting”, an IT company. The “F-1” originated from the Function 1 button on your key board.
Q7. Why does it take so long to ship a Color Rifle?
A7. All of our custom builds are build to order. They have to go through the full manufacturing process. They start as a raw piece of aluminum, then are machined and hand finished. Next they are the sent to anodizing to have your desired coating applied. After Coating they will be inspected and sent to be built. We apologize, but due to the nature of build to order, this is not a quick process.
Q8. Do you offer an LE/Mill discount?
Q8. We sure do! Shoot your credentials over to Support@f-1firearms.com. You will receive a discount code for 15% off most items on the site.
Q9. I live close, does F-1 have a showroom I can come by to take a look at?
A9. We are sorry but due to the nature of Manufacturing Firearms, we are not open to the public.
Q10. I have decided I want to Cancel/Return my order, what do i need to do?
A10. Please shoot Support@f-1firearms.com a cancel request and they will take care of you. Please note if your order has been shipped, you will not be reimbursed for any shipping fees and there will be a 15% restocking fee.
Q11. I received my order, but something is incorrect or damaged. How can I fix this?
A11. Please contact Support@f-1firearms.com and request an RMA form. You will be instructed from there.
Q12. What is the difference in Anodizing vs. Cerakote?
A12. Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish Cerakote is a hardened painting process that covers over the metal and is hardened to strengthen the paint.
Q13. Can I make changes to my order after it's already been placed?
A13. We will accept changes to your order for up to 30 dsays after your order date.
Q14. Why 7 series over 6 series Aluminum?
A14. We use 7 series aluminum on our receiver sets because it is stronger/harder and lighter then the standard 6 series used on traditional Ar15/10s
Q15. What style is your BDRX-10?
A15. Our BDRX-10 series is a DPMS High Profile Chassis
Q16. Which is better DLC or PVD?
A16. Technically, based on science DLC is a little harder and has a higher viscosity. That being said, in your rifle, they will both perform amazing. You won’t be able to tell a difference. We suggest you pick the color that best suites your build.
Q17. Do the holes in the upper cause too much dirt and debris to get inside the gun?
A17. We have actually found the exact opposite. While yes a little more dirt and debris can theoretically get in, the moment you pull the trigger the receiver actually purges itself. We like to call it the “Easy In Easy Out Effect”. Time and time again our guns have been pushed through extreme conditions and just continue to run.
Q18. I want to work for F-1, How do I get hired?
A18. Sure, we are always accepting resumes. Please send a copy over to Support@f-1firearms.com and give us a brief reason why you think you would be a good fit for our team.
Q19. I just received one of your lowers, and the hole for the buffer retainer and buffer retainer spring is too small. It just has a small threaded hole. Am I missing something?
A19. Yes, our lowers actually use our proprietary 1 piece buffer retention system. All you will need to do is install the small silver all thread screw that came with the lower. Be sure to tighten it all the way until it bottoms out. It is designed to hold the buffer in place and is small enough to pass under the BCG when firing.
